The Goodbyes Author Supports Music Charity at Barnes & Noble Fairfax
On September 10, author Leslie Welch shared her debut novel, The Goodbyes, with Barnes & Noble Fairfax. Music and memory play a large role in the book, which is why Welch partnered with Hungry For Music – a charity with the mission of giving the gift of music to hungry souls.
A portion of the day’s proceeds went directly to Hungry for Music. This very special event included musical performances from The Glimpses and much more.
About Hungry For Music
At Hungry for Music, the most important service is putting musical instruments into hungry hands. This charity serves children who demonstrate a desire to learn music, as well as teachers who have students willing to learn. Music has the ability to heal; it soothes tension and can transform sadness and aggression into hope and creativity. Music is the prayer through which the world heals itself. Hungry for Music believes that by sharing instruments and musical experiences, children who would not normally have the opportunity can experience a kind of freedom and self-discovery that is often stifled in an atmosphere of economic hardship. All of their events, benefits, instrument drives, and CD production are aimed at uplifting those lives and enriching culture at-large by supporting the availability of music education.
