Blue Moon Publishers Author Nominated for Literary Award
We’re proud to announce that our author, Sarah Mitchell-Jackson, has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize by The Conium Review for her short story “Clown Boutique Fairytale.” Here’s a sneak peek, but you can read the full story here.
“I want to be a clown,” I told my mother when I was very small. The fontanel in my head had only just closed and my tiny pearl teeth glimmered with newness as I spoke.
“A clown?” she snorted with a contempt that shot out at me like venom. “No one will look at you. No one will laugh at you, girl.”
How does our debut novelist feel about all of this attention?
I am delighted about being nominated for a Pushcart Prize. The Pushcart is famous and stands for excellence in writing and honours the small press that help new authors make names for themselves. The lovely people at The Conium Review see and select a lot of writing, but the fact that they believed in Clown Boutique Fairytale enough to publish it alongside the other wonderful stories they showcase, and thought my work special enough to nominate, means a lot to me.
